Community Environmental Council Gala Fundraiser
Project Description: Integrated design for event invitation and program for the Community Environmental Council's Green Gala fundraising event held October 17, 2009 in Santa Barbara.
The evening began with greentinis and music on the patio by Palmer Jackson, Jr. and John Simpson, and was followed by dinner inspired by local, organic purveyors, and dancing with Area 51. Guests received Greenpoint raffle tickets for all that they are doing to become fossil-free, with the winners collecting elegant, fabulous gifts.
Features: The program and invitation were designed to work as integral parts of the vision set forth by the event design team, and were printed on recycled paper. Due to careful planning and detailed waste management strategies, the number of printed pieces was reduced to a minimum, and the Green Gala 2009 organizers recycled and composted approximately 90% of the waste generated at the event. These numbers far exceed waste management practices for any standard event and are exemplary even for an event striving to be “zero waste.”
